All 4 Academy teams win

In the past 18 hours, every Sporting KC Academy team has hit the field and come away with a win. That’s right, four teams and four wins.

The U13’s and U14’s are up in Saginaw, Michigan for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships while the U16’s and U18’s are down in Frisco, Texas for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase.

The Under-13 squad battled to a win after their semifinal match with NWC Alliance 98 Black went to penalty kicks. Playing their second match in a 24-hour period, they battled to a 1-1 draw in regular time, led by a goal from Josh High. In PKs, Sporting KC prevailed 4-2 with Diego Alanis making two stops and Israel Rocha, Cole Miesner, Alex Kaddah and Roman Knox all converting their attempts.

With a trip to the U.S. National Championship Series on the line, Sporting KC will take on Chicago Magic in the U13 Final. Chicago, one of the top teams in the country, has a goal differential of plus-19 through just four games and are the only team to beat the U13's this year. The championship match will take place Wednesday morning at 8am EST.

Right after the U13’s won, the U14’s took the field and secured a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Libertyville FC. Sporting went down 1-0 after a quick LFC goal, but came charging back with two goals in the final six minutes of the first half. Seth Hudson and Dorian Hernandez were the scorers.

In the U14 Final, Sporting KC will face Vardar 98 on Wednesday at 9am EST. Vardar has won all four of their matches by a 4-1 scoreline. Just like the U13’s, the winner will advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer Nationals.

Down in Texas, the U16’s had a rough start against Empire United going down 1-0 at half-time. After some rest and time to re-focus, they came out on fire in the second half. Steven Enna scored twice and David Leichty got another to make the score 3-1 and to advance the SKC U16’s in the Showcase.

The U18’s, who won 3-0 over Santa Cruz last night, will face Match Fit Chelsea of the Eastern Conference on Wednesday at 9am EST.
