U13s at MDL Playoffs

The Sporting KC Academy U13's are in Libertyville, Illinois this weekend for the 2011-12 MDL Playoffs. The tournament kicked off on Friday with the top teams from the Midwest Developmental League in competition to qualify for the 2012 National Premier Leagues Champions Cup, which will be held later this month at Waukegan Sports Park in Waukegan, Ill.

The U13's finished in first place in the Great Lakes Division with a 10-1-1 record to secure their spot at this weekend's tourney. After falling 5-1 in the opening game against Vardar SC, the academy team turned the tables with a 5-1 victory over fellow MLS side Columbus Crew today. The team will play again at 10am CT on Sunday against the Chicago Fire at Libertyville Township Soccer Complex.
