Sporting Kansas City has partnered with Gillis to launch Goals for Gillis, a program that will raise money to help at-risk children and families with every goal Sporting Kansas City scores throughout the 2012 season.
Fans can participate by making a pledge beginning at $1 per goal through the remainder of the 2012 season. The top four Goals for Gillis fundraisers will be recognized online and at a special event with Heineman and Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara after the completion of the 2012 season. Those pledging at least $5/goal by April 30 will be entered to win an autographed, one-of-a-kind portrait of Kamara by local artist Jeffrey Barge.
"Sporting Kansas City is honored to partner with Gillis, an organization that has done and will continue to do so much for children and families of Kansas City,” Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman said. “We aim to surpass fundraising goals both through the philanthropy of our supporters and the ability of our players on the pitch."
By emphasizing the collective power of individual actions, the Goals for Gillis pledge will allow Gillis to serve over 1,400 families each year through a family-focused, culturally sensitive system of care. Gillis is an organization that has proudly served Kansas City since 1870, and believes that a safe and permanent home and family should be the goal for all children.
