Aurelien Collin's Suspension Rescinded

French defender will be available for Sporting KC match on Saturday at New York

Sporting Kansas City defender Aurelien Collin will be available for Saturday's match at the New York Red Bulls, after Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that U.S. Soccer has rescinded the mandatory one-game suspension resulting from the red card he received in the 76th minute of the club's 3-2 loss at the New England Revolution this past weekend.

Major League Soccer issued the following statement in the most recent disciplinary summary, sent to clubs today:

"US Soccer reviewed the red card issued to A. Collin and determined that the incident was a case of mistaken identity with B. Diop.  As a result A. Collin will no longer be suspended for the next league match. The MLS Disciplinary Committee reviewed the play and ruled that no sanctions against B. Diop were warranted.  Therefore, both B. Diop and A. Collin are eligible to play in their next match against New York Red Bull."

Prior to Wednesday's decision, Collin was listed as suspended for "striking an opponent" in the aftermath of a Sporting Kansas City corner kick with the game tied 2-2. Playing with 10 men for the third time in a four-game span, Sporting KC conceded the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute in the 3-2 loss.

Sporting Kansas City will visit Red Bull Arena to take on the New York Red Bulls at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The match will be shown live on KSMO-TV (in English) and Time Warner Cable Channel 5 (en Espanol).
