Sporting KC statement on U.S. Open Cup fourth round match-up with USL PRO affiliate

Four players on loan to Orlando will not play against Sporting KC

The four players Sporting Kansas City (MLS) loaned to their affiliate Orlando City SC (USL PRO) will not be made available to play in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup fourth round match-up, based on an agreement between the two partnered clubs.

Midfielder Christian Duke, forward Dom Dwyer, goalkeeper Jon Kempin and defender Yann Songo'o have been with Orlando City SC since March 14th and helped them to the top of the USL PRO standings. The two-year partnership between the Lions and Sporting KC became official in January.

The upcoming game between Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City SC will kickoff at 7:30pm CT on Wednesday, June 12 at Sporting Park. The two teams met last year in the third round of the tournament, with Sporting Kansas City advancing 3-2 en route to winning their second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship.
