Sporting Kansas City defender Dany Rosero was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday as one of the top 11 players in Major League Soccer for Matchday 5 of the regular season
Rosero headed home a corner kick from Memo Rodriguez in the 18th minute for the game-tying goal and played the full 90 minutes in Sporting Kansas City's 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday.
Rosero scored his fourth goal for Sporting Kansas City -- all coming on headers -- on a night in which he played the 350th appearance of his professional club career. The 30-year-old Colombian also led all players in SKCvSJ with 76 passes and Rosero ranks second in MLS this year - behind only Darlington Nagbe - with a 93.9 percent pass completion percentage.
"Dany is a very powerful guy, inside the box especially," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes told media in the post-match press conference. "So him getting on the end of set pieces is something that we want to have happen and for him to get the goal tonight, he showed his power on that one for sure."
Sporting Kansas City will next host the LA Galaxy -- led by Golden Boot leader Dejan Joveljic and MLS All-Star Riqui Puig -- at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Children's Mercy Park.
