Sporting Kansas City forward Willy Agada was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday as one of the top 11 players in Major League Soccer for Matchday 8 of the regular season.
Agada scored twice in the first half - striking first in the 13th minute then again in stoppage time - in Sporting Kansas City's 3-3 draw against the Portland Timbers at Children's Mercy Park on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Nigerian now has 12 goals in 11 career regular season starts at Children's Mercy Park and he has scored or assisted a goal in each of Sporting's last three matches. Among players with at least 15 career goals for Sporting Kansas City in all competitions, Agada ranks second in club history with 0.69 goals per 90 behind only Miklos Molnar (0.70 goals per 90).
Sporting Kansas City will next host Inter Miami CF at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in a highly-anticipated match-up with the reigning Leagues Cup champions who will travel to Kansas City for the first time in club history with a star-studded roster that features Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
