Did he mean it? Was it really a cross?
AT&T Goal of the Week voters didn’t seem bothered about those questions in voting Benny Feilhaber’s top-corner curler the winner for the MLS Week 27 poll by a 14-point margin. The veteran's strike safely outpaced the runner-up, a fine first-time finish from Colorado Rapids striker and Rookie of the Year candidate Andre Shinyashiki.
Feilhaber’s strike was the opening goal in Sporting Kansas City’s weekend visit to the Portland Timbers, though it didn’t nab them a positive result at Providence Park. It earned 42.5% of the GOTW vote.
Shinyashiki’s contender, which helped the red-hot Rapids knock off the Seattle Sounders at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, racked up 28.4%. Michael Bradley’s one-time rocket in Toronto FC’s rout of FC Cincinnati trotted in at third with 15.6%, followed by Orlando City youngster Benji Michel at 8.9%. New York City FC winger Jesus Medina brought up the rear with 4.7%.
