Career Summary

Sporting Kansas City signed Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Appiah on July 12, 2016. Appiah joined the Colorado Rapids in January as the No. 15 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, playing two matches on loan at USL club Charlotte Independence before parting ways with Colorado on June 30. He played three matches for Sporting KC in all competitions during his first year with the club.

2016: Started three matches in all competitions (270 minutes played). MLS regular season: Started one match (90 minutes played). Made his MLS and Sporting KC debut with a start in a 2-2 draw at FC Dallas on Aug. 13. Open Cup: Did not feature. CONCACAF Champions League: Started and played 90 minutes in a 3-0 loss at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Aug. 23. Started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss to Vancouver on Sept. 13. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature.

COLLEGE
Born in Ghana and raised in Westerville, Ohio, Appiah spent five years at the University of Cincinnati, where he recorded seven goals and 13 assists in 65 college appearances. He earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference and Second Team All-Ohio accolades as a senior in 2015, finishing with six goals and five assists.

While at Cincinnati, Appiah made 10 appearances for GPS Portland Phoenix of the USL Premier Development League in 2013.
