Career Summary

A Olathe, Kan. native, Thomas attended Notre Dame alongside Sporting KC teammate Matt Besler. Despite being drafted in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Thomas opted to signed with Halmstads BK and Ljungskile SK in Sweden before returning to MLS and signing with Sporting Kansas City in January 2012

Professional:

2013: Played in his first game of the 2013 season, as well as his first ever game in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on May 28 vs Des Moines Menace. 

2012: Thomas played seven games for Sporting Kansas City during the 2012 regular season. Thomas made his debut on June 20 when he played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw at CenturyLink Field. Thomas’ next start came in 2-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium. Thomas started again on August 11 in 2-1 victory over D.C. United at Sporting park.Thomas played the entire match against the Dayton Dutch Lions in which Sporting Kansas City earned a 3-0 victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals. Thomas also played two international friendlies in their entirety. Signed with Sporting Kansas City on January 18.

2010-2011: Taken 19th overall in 2010 MLS SuperDraft by San Jose Earthquakes, but opted to sign with Halmstads BK of the Allsvenskan. In July 2010, moved to Ljungskile SK, also in Swedish top division.

College: 

2006-2009: Started 81 matches for the Fighting Irish, scoring 19 goals and contributing 13 assists while earning first-team all-BIG EAST honors in his senior season.

Youth: Attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he helped lead the Saints to three state titles while being named to the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Boys High-School All-America team. Played on same club team as Matt Besler and Seth Sinovic.
