Career Summary

Drafted in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas signing after two seasons at the University of North Carolina, Lopez was the ACC Freshman of the Year as a Tar Heel. He was a regular fixture for the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team, playing at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey and the 2013 Toulon Tournament in France. He has also participated in training camps at the U-15 and U-18 levels.

Sporting KC loaned Lopez to OKC Energy FC on March 24 ahead of the 2015 USL PRO season. He returned midway through the year and made six appearances for Sporting KC in all competitions.

2015: MLS regular season: Started five of six appearances (482 minutes played). Made his 2015 debut for the club in the second half of a defeat to San Jose on Aug. 19. Earned his first start of the season in a 3-2 loss at Columbus Crew SC on Aug. 22. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature. Open Cup: Did not feature. USL (OKC Energy FC): Started five of eight appearances with 434 minutes played. Made his first start in the club's opening match of the USL season on March 28.

2014: MLS regular season: Appeared in eight games with five starts. Made his MLS debut and first League start in a 2-1 win at Columbus on July 16. MLS Playoffs: Did not feature. CCL: Did not feature. Open Cup: Did not feature. Friendly: Played 45 minutes in a 4-1 Champions Shield defeat to Manchester City on July 23 at Sporting Park. USL PRO: Was loaned to USL Pro affiliate Orlando City on March 17, contributing one assist in nine appearances (169 minutes). Was recalled from Orlando City on June 4 and sent on loan to OKC Energy FC. Was recalled to Sporting KC on June 30 after scoring one goal in five games (366 minutes) for Energy FC. 

2013: MLS: Did not feature. Open Cup: Made his professional debut with a start on May 26 against the Des Moines Menace.
