Training Photos: Home Sweet Home

Sporting Kansas City has come together for soccer activities on roughly 35 occasions since the 2012 preseason began at the Chiefs Indoor Practice Facility. Today, for the very first time in 2012, the players were able to train at their permanent home at the Sporting Club Training Center (Centre? I want Centre.) in Swope Park.

40 MPH gusts of wind don't contribute to an ideal training environment, but the coaches were still able to run an efficient session that started with a high intensity warmup and concluded with a round-robin 8v8 tournament to big goals, a staple competition in this year's preseason.

Bobby Convey and Kei Kamara combined for the goal of the session for the green bibs, as Convey teased a right-footed cross from the right over the outstretched hand of trialist goalkeeper Steve Spangler, the ball eventually falling daintily onto the head of Kamara who had snuck in from the left. Those two will likely combine from opposite flanks once the season gets started, but we hope the final product is exactly the same.

Despite Bobby and Kei's chemistry for the greens, it was the Maroon-bibbed upstarts who came away champions on the day. Congrats to Soony Saad, Michael Harrington, Kevin Ellis, Shawn Singh, Michael Thomas and Lawrence Olum for bringing their game. Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow.
