SPORTING KANSAS CITY HOME OPENER THIS SATURDAY
Sporting Kansas City’s long-awaited home opener against the New England Revolution is set for 7:30 p.m. CT this Saturday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The game will be broadcast locally on KSMO TV with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. CT, 610 Sports Radio will also be broadcasting a special one-hour pregame show from 6-7 p.m. featuring the commentary duo of Callum Williams and Jake Yadrich. The show will run in addition to the Sporting KC Show on 610, which airs Thursday at 7 p.m. CT.


Sporting Kansas City and the Revolution met on three occasions last season, most recently playing to a 1-1 draw at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on July 30, 2011.


Just a few hundred tickets remain for the match. Fans can ensure attendance by purchasing tickets online, calling 888-4KC-GOAL, or visiting the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park box offices.

CREDENTIAL APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR CONCACAF MEN’S OLYMPIC QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT IS FRIDAY
CONCACAF is accepting media credential requests for the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament to be held March 22-April 2 in Nashville, Tenn., Carson, Calif., and Kansas City, Kan.

CONCACAF credentials are required for this match, and other local venue media credentials will not be valid. Media can access the online application via link provided in this email. The deadline to apply for credentials is this Friday, March 16, at 5 p.m. ET

SPORTING KANSAS CITY DEFEATS D.C. UNITED 1-0 IN SEASON OPENER
Sporting Kansas City started off their 2012 campaign on the right foot last Saturday when they defeated D.C. United 1-0 on the road at RFK Stadium.


C.J. Sapong scored the lone goal of the match in the third minute of stoppage time in front of his friends and family that traveled to the match from nearby Manassas, Va.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY POSTS 2-0 VICTORY OVER ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY
Sporting Kansas City played in their home stadium for the first time in 2012 on Tuesday, posting a 2-0 victory in an exhibition match against Rockhurst University.


Midfielder Luke Sassano led the way for Sporting with the game-winning goal in the 22nd minute before adding an assist on Dom Dwyer’s goal in the 34th minute.

TEAL BUNBURY NAMED TO U.S. UNDER -23 CAMP
Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury was named to the United States Under-23 Men’s National Team roster on for the team’s final training camp in advance of the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The camp is in Nashville, Tenn.



Bunbury is one of five forwards on the roster and is among 13 MLS players invited. The United States official 20-player roster for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be finalized on March 20, the due date for all eight participating teams to submit their rosters to CONCACAF.

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR SPORTING 22 PROGRAM NOW OPEN
Sporting Kansas City’s community outreach program Sporting 22 is now accepting applications for the 2012 season. Sporting 22 brings together 22 high school students to explore, develop and execute local initiatives that use soccer to impact the overall health and well-being of thousands Kansas City children. The students have from June to December to activate their programs and start a lifelong path of civic engagement in the communities they serve.

INDIVIDUAL MATCH TICKETS FOR OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS ON SALE NOW
Individual game tickets for the semifinals and final matches of the 2012 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park are on sale now.


The semifinal matches that determine CONCACAF’s two entrants to the 2012 Olympic Games in London will be played as a doubleheader event on Saturday, March 31, at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT. The U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team will play in the second semifinal match should the team advance out ofGroup A. The championship game will take place on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m. CT.


Fans can order Kansas City individual tickets online at ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, at local Ticketmaster ticket centers in Kansas City and at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park’s ticket office (open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT).

Individual match tickets for each of the opening eight home games on the Sporting KC schedule -- beginning with the highly anticipated home opener on Saturday, March 17 and continuing through the visit from rivals Chicago Fire on Friday, June 29 -- will be available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com or at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park Box Offices (open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT).
