SPORTING KC FACES VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC TONIGHT ON THE ROAD
Sporting Kansas City (6-0-0) will be tested when they face the Vancouver Whitecaps tonight at 9 p.m. CT in Vancouver. The match will be broadcast locally on KSMO TV, with coverage beginning at 8:30 p.m. CT. Fans may also tune into La Gran D 1340 AM for the Spanish station's live broadcast of the match. Additionally, supporters can follow the game online via @SKCGameday on Twitter and the MLSSoccer.com MatchCenter, or on mobile devices with Sporting Explore and MLS MatchDay apps.
Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver (2-1-2) last met in pre-season at the 2012 Disney Pro Soccer Classic in Orlando. Vancouver prevailed with a 3-0 victory en route to being crowned tournament champions.
CLIFF ILLIG TO BE HONORED AT 31ST ANNUAL SPIRIT AWARDS ON FRIDAY
Cliff Illig, a principal investor in Sporting Kansas City and the co-founder of Cerner, will be honored for his contributions to Kansas City at 6 p.m. CT this Friday at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. Illig is one of five recipients for the prestigious Spirit Awards, presented by Gillis.
A few of his many efforts that earned him the award include the growth of Cerner, the Stowers Institute for Medical Research for which he serves on the Board of Directors, the development of LIVESTRONG Sporting Park which has infused thousands of jobs and economic dollars, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City to which he has generously given his time, and the Boy Scouts of America for which he has served as a stellar regional leader.
Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman and his wife Amber served as event chairs and Sporting Kansas City is a leading sponsor of the Spirit Awards, presented by Gillis. Since 1870, Gillis has assisted at-risk children and families in the Kansas City area to reach their potential through counseling, education and social services.
SPORTING KC PLAYS AGAIN ON THE ROAD AGAINST PORTLAND THIS SATURDAY
Sporting Kansas City will face another hurdle on the road when they play the Portland Timbers (1-4-1) in Portland at 9:30 p.m. CT this Saturday. The match will be broadcast locally on KSMO TV, with coverage beginning at 9 p.m. CT.
Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers met twice in 2011 MLS play with Sporting walking away both times with a victory. First in July at Portland 2-1 and then in August at home 3-1.
MAKE IT 'APPEN: DESIGN A SPORTING KC APP AND WIN SEASON TICKETS
Sporting Kansas City announced a one-of-a-kind opportunity for amateur developers. Sporting Kansas City needs your ideas for a game or app associated with soccer that can be played on a mobile device. The creator of the winning idea will receive two Sporting Kansas City Season Tickets for the 2013 season and on-field recognition at a Sporting KC match.
To submit an entry, visit SportingMembership.com/AppContest and complete the online application form at the bottom of the page. The deadline to submit entries is midnight on Monday, June 3.
All entries will be reviewed by a panel (comprised of Sporting Kansas City front office personnel) to determine up to four finalists. Finalists will be determined by Monday, June 25. Each finalist will then have the opportunity to pitch their idea in person to this panel. The winner will be announced at the July 21 Sporting KC match vs. New England Revolution.
SPORTING KC DEFEATS WESTERN CONFERENCE LEADERS REAL SALT LAKE
Sporting Kansas City further proved they are the team to beat following their 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake last Saturday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Defender Aurelien Collin notched a goal, his second of the season, in the 63rd minute off of a corner kick from midfielder Graham Zusi. Zusi bagged his sixth assist of the season - the most in the League - while goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen recorded his fifth shutout of the 2012 MLS season.
Sporting Kansas City is the only team in MLS history to concede only one goal in their first six matches.

JOIN THE SPORTING KANSAS CITY GOLF LEAGUE
The Sporting Kansas City Golf League will continue this year at the Painted Hills Golf Course from May 1- June 26. The league is open to golfers of all experience levels, with an entry fee of $50 per person. The cost includes an end of league party and two tickets to a Sporting Kansas City match.

Heartland SPCA is participating in this year's ASPCA $100K Shelter Challenge. The $100K Challenge is an opportunity for animal shelters all over the country to save more lives and get rewarded for it.

SPORTING KC LAUNCHES GOAL FOR GILLIS
Sporting Kansas City has partnered with Gillis to launch Goals for Gillis, a program that will raise money to help at-risk children and families with every goal Sporting Kansas City scores throughout the 2012 season.
Fans can participate by making a pledge starting at $1 for every goal that Sporting Kansas City scores during the 2012 season. The top four Goals for Gillis fundraisers will be recognized online and at a special event with Heineman and Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara after the completion of the 2012 season. Those pledging at least $5 per goal by April 30 will be entered to win an autographed, one-of-a-kind portrait of Kamara by local artist Jeffrey Barge.

Sporting Kansas City and the Sporting Kansas City Juniors youth development academy will again offer a series of youth soccer camps in 2012 for boys and girls of all ages. Please see the list of scheduled camps below:
- Pre-Tryout Camp: June 4-6 for U11-U14 boys ($130)
- Boys & Girls Development Camp: June 18-20 for boys and girls ages 8-12 ($130)
- St. Teresa's Academy Camps: July 9-12 or July 30 - Aug. 3 for boys and girls ages 4-13 ($75-100)
- Sporting Youngsters Camp: June 11-14 for boys and girls ages 4-7 ($100)
