Sporting KC has scored some memorable goals this season. C.J. Sapong's header in the 93rd minute at D.C. United to begin the season with a 1-0 win. Teal Bunbury's brace in the opening 14 minutes at Colorado. Kei Kamara's 88th minute match-winner versus FC Dallas and his deft flick over Joe Cannon in a 3-1 victory at Vancouver. But none warranted mention in the MLS AT&T Goal of the Week conversation through the first 11 weeks of the campaign.
Until Sapong struck on Sunday. His first-time, sliding volley on a pinpoint cross from Kamara opened the scoring in the first five minutes at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park and it's safe to say the national television audience took notice during the 2-1 win over San Jose. Sapong garnered 37% of the vote -- more than twice that of runner-up Patrice Bernier -- and brought home the first MLS AT&T Goal of the Week honor of his career.
