Sporting Kansas City players Teal Bunbury, Kei Kamara, Chance Myers and Jimmy Nielsen helped throw out the first pitch in the Kansas City Royals 5-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday night. As several of their teammates looked on from the dugout suite, Sporting KC was honored with a PA announcement and videoboard replay of from the team's shootout victory over the Seattle Sounders FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park last week.
Kamara and Nielsen executed flawlessly, though Bunbury's throw sailed just above the reach of Myers' glove. It's safe to say, after last night, Sporting Kansas City players will leave the pitching up to Jeremy Guthrie (15 scoreless innings in his last two outings) and focus instead on the rest of their 2012 MLS season.
