10 fans. 10 dates. 1 lucky U.S. Open Cup.

We’re constantly reminded why Sporting Kansas City has the best fans in Major League Soccer. Not only do you scream your lungs out every game, bring electric energy to LIVESTRONG Sporting Park for 90-plus minutes, but you all are pretty dang creative, too.

After watching our video and submitting their love letter, ten fans won a chance to hang out with the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy for the day. The result? 10 dates, 10 whirlwind romances, and one very lucky U.S. Open Cup trophy.

The winners were asked to submit photo or video footage of their day with the trophy. In return, the Sporting Kansas City front office chose their favorite to award four tickets to tomorrow’s regular season finale against the Philadelphia Union.

The decision was hard.

From a wedding at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park to parading around the River Market to partaking in a youth soccer tournament, the Cup may be luckiest date in Kansas City. The trophy met other fans and even had a chance to shake hands with KU basketball head coach Bill Self. Every photo and every video showed us how much our fans mean to this club. We couldn’t pick just one, so we doubled the prizes.

First off, congratulations to our grand prize winner, Emily Ritter, the winner of two tickets to see Sporting Kansas City’s first playoff game.

A glimpse of her engagement, wedding, and honeymoon with the Cup:

Our runner-up Kaitlyn Butko is the winner of four tickets to tomorrow’s regular season finale at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park:

Many thanks to all of our contestants for making us smile: Sporting Wilfred, Ingrid Perkins, Troy Diggs, Alan Swanson, Joel O’Laughlin, Jenny Lewis, Jeremy Brooks, and Mark Adams. We didn’t realize dating could be so fun. And after four years in Seattle, we’re certain the Cup hadn’t realized that either…
