Sporting KC to announce 2013 MLS regular season schedule on Jan. 9

Team celebrates vs New York Red Bulls

Sporting Kansas City will announce the schedule for the upcoming 2013 Major League Soccer season on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. The first three matches of the season, including the home opener, were announced last month.

Sporting will play 34 matches during the 2013 MLS regular season including at least two against each Eastern Conference team and once against each Western Conference team.

Based on the 2012 season, Sporting KC will travel to face the reigning MLS Cup champions Los Angeles Galaxy, Supporters' Shield winners San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake, and FC Dallas. The Western Conference opponents Sporting will host are Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps, Chivas USA, and Colorado Rapids.

Sporting KC are coming off a historic 2012 in which they won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, finished first place in the Eastern Conference regular season standings, and had four players selected to the MLS Best XI.

The full list of matches for the 2013 season, including pre-season dates, will be available on the schedule page.
