Sporting Kansas City defender Chance Myers is arguably one of the best right backs in Major League Soccer. However, his road to success was no easy one. After being selected with the 1st overall draft pick in 2008, Myers only appeared in 10 matches before coming down with mono. His 2009 season was also limited after a broken toe and surgery to repair a deviated septum. The 2010 season looked a little brighter as Myers appeared in 15 matches, but a hamstring injury hindered his performance.
Myers finally caught a break during the 2011 season and appeared in 28 games for Sporting Kansas City. A year later, Myers ended the 2012 season with seven assists for a single-season career high. Four of his seven assists were game-winners, which tied him for 6th in the league. His prolific 2012 season also featured appearances in 30 games with 28 starts.
