SPORTING CLUB LAUNCHES THE VICTORY PROJECT

Sporting Club announced on Friday the launch of The Victory Project, a new community-driven foundation that will meaningfully and tangibly impact children with cancer in the Kansas City region.

A key component of The Victory Project is to raise funds to address specific needs of individual children undergoing cancer treatment, where those needs are not supported by insurance. Donors will have the unique opportunity to know exactly how their funds are being used, and for whom. All funds raised will go directly to helping these children, who are here in Kansas City.

In addition to raising money, the organization hopes to provide encouragement to children in their daily battles with cancer. At each Sporting Kansas City home match, Sporting Club welcomes a special guest affected by cancer, and their family, to the Victory Suite at Sporting Park and recognizes the individual in a special pre-match ceremony.

In order to maximize the impact of The Victory Project, the initiative will be strategically aligned with like-minded local organizations that are committed to providing assistance to children with cancer in the community. At launch, The Victory Project has partnered with the First Hand Foundation, Supporting Kids Foundation and Children's Mercy Cancer Center.

In order to impact as many individuals as possible within the community, The Victory Project will raise funds for those fighting cancer through donations contributed in-stadium and online, and partner contributions. In addition, Sporting Club will offer support to local events through funding and player appearances.

For more information on The Victory Project, visit VictoryKC.org or contact Community Programs Manager Brandi Thomas at 913-235-2101.

SPORTING CLUB, USSF PURSUE FACILITY IN KCK

Sporting Club and the U.S. Soccer Federation announced on Friday that the two organizations have agreed to a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore bringing a new National Training and Coaching Development Center to Kansas City, Kan. Together they are studying a proposed project that would be designed to develop a world-class soccer training facility and serve as the premier destination in the United States for player, coaching and referee innovation.

The three initiatives of the National Training and Coaching Development Center would be world-class infrastructure, education and youth development. The mission is to vertically integrate a system of physiological, technical, scientific, psychological and information-driven development for players, coaches and referees of all ages.

There are more than 20,000 licensed soccer coaches in the United States and nearly 150,000 soccer officials across the country. U.S. Soccer is committed to providing education resources and courses to foster consistent and quality instruction.

The state-of-the-art campus would be designed, developed and operated as a world-class training facility dedicated to the future of American soccer. At a projected cost of $50 million, the National Training and Coaching Development Center would host U.S. National Team camps, coaching education and referee development programming.

U.S. Soccer will also explore the feasibility of establishing futsal and/or small-sided soccer programming to be managed out of the National Training and Coaching Development Center.

The first step in the realization of the National Training and Coaching Development Center is to identify a site. Sporting Club has issued a Request for Proposals to Wyandotte County land owners and real estate brokers in an effort to help identify the best available location for the National Training and Coaching Development Center.
