Sporting Kansas City has recalled forward C.J. Sapong from his loan to Orlando City Soccer Club, the club announced on Thursday. Sapong returned to Kansas City today and will be available for selection on Saturday by Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes.

Sapong, 24, was loaned to the team's USL PRO Affiliate on July 11 and started each of the team's last three games. He recorded a goal and an assist in the team's 3-3 draw against the Dayton Dutch Lions and also drew the game-winning penalty kick in a 2-1 victory over the Charleston Battery.

The James Madison University product has 16 goals and eight assists in MLS competition in three professional seasons. He earned 2011 MLS Rookie of the Year honors and an invitation to the U.S. Men's National Team for appearances in two international friendlies. In 2012, Sapong was Sporting KC's second-leading scorer with nine goals while adding two assists. He has also contributed five goals and two assists in U.S. Open Cup competition in his career.

Three Sporting Kansas City players -- goalkeeper Jon Kempin, defender Kevin Ellis and midfielder Christian Duke -- are currently on loan with the Lions, who are in first place in the USL PRO standings with seven games remaining in the regular season.
