SPORTING KC HEADS WEST FOR A CROSS CONFERENCE CLASH AGAINST THE SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES ON SUNDAY
Sporting KC visits Buck Shaw Stadium for the fifth time in club history on Sunday. The match will be broadcast live locally on KSMO-TV and nationally on the Univision Deportes Network and is set to kickoff at 9 p.m. CT. Sporting KC is winless in the previous four matches at the Earthquakes' temporary home. Sporting KC is winless in their last 15 road trips to San Jose, with a 0-10-5 record (including postseason) dating back to 2000.
Sporting KC and San Jose are the top two performing teams when it comes to home and away form over the last two years. Sporting KC's 13 away wins since 2012 are the most in MLS. San Jose's two home losses since 2012 are the fewest in MLS. Additionally, Sporting KC's 26 away goals conceded since 2012 are the fewest in MLS and San Jose's 61 home goals scored since 2012 are the most in MLS.
KEVIN ELLIS RETURNS TO ORLANDO CITY FOR LION'S FINAL TWO REGULAR SEASON MATCHES
Kevin Ellis has re-joined USL PRO affiliate Orlando City Soccer Club for the Lions final two regular season matches, including tonight's decisive match against the Richmond Kickers. The 22-year-old Homegrown defender started three games last month for Orlando City, who are in contention for their third straight Commissioner's Cup title, before sustaining an injury while training with Sporting KC and remaining with the club to receive treatment.
The Lions are currently tied atop the USL PRO standings with the Richmond Kickers ahead of Wednesday's meeting between the two clubs at City Stadium in Richmond, Virginia. Orlando City will then close out the team's 26-game regular season schedule at home on Saturday against the Charlotte Eagles.
Should Ellis appear in both matches for Orlando City, then he would become the fifth Sporting KC player eligible for participation in the 2013 USL PRO Playoffs. He joins goalkeeper Jon Kempin and midfielder Christian Duke currently on loan to the Lions, while forwards C.J. Sapong and Dom Dwyer have also met the five-game minimum required for postseason competition.
The 2013 USL PRO Playoffs begin with the quarterfinal round during the weekend of Aug. 23-25 and culminate with the USL PRO Championship the weekend of Sept. 6-8.
PETER VERMES TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME ON OCTOBER 11 IN KC
U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday that the former U.S. Men's National Team forwards Peter Vermes and Joe-Max Moore will be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 11, in a ceremony taking place at 2 p.m. CT on the Sprint Plaza at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.
SPORTING KC ACQUIRES MIDFIELDER JIMMY MEDRANDA AND DEFENDER BRENDAN RUIZ
Sporting KC announced last Friday that the club has acquired Columbian midfielder Jimmy Medranda on loan from Deportivo Pereira and U.S. defender Brendan Ruiz from Brazilian side Figuerense. Medranda and Ruiz will be added to the roster upon receipt of their P-1 Visas and International Transfer Certificates. Medranda will occupy an international spot on Sporting KC's roster. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
SPORTING KC TEAMS UP WITH UMB BANK
Sporting Kansas City and UMB Bank announced a multi-year partnership last week introducing the financial services provider as a "First Team Partner" of Sporting KC and the official commercial banking sponsor for the club.
The partnership includes the naming rights to the field club at Sporting Park (UMB Field Club) as well as the title sponsorship to Sporting KC's August 31 match against the Colorado Rapids.
SAAD-KAMARA CONNECTION HELPS SPORTING KC DEFEAT THE NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 3-0 AT SPORTING PARK
Soony Saad and Kei Kamara linked up for two of Sporting KC's three goals against the New England Revolution on Saturday. Kamara opened the scoring for Sporting KC in the 27th minute when he headed a cross from Saad past Bobble Shuttleworth. Kamara beat Shuttleworth again in almost identical fashion shortly after the halftime intermission.
Benny Feilhaber added an insurance goal in second half stoppage time when he curled a free kick from just outside the 18-yard-box over the New England wall. Watch match highlights here.
SPORTING KC HEADS TO HONDURAS FOR SECOND MATCH OF 2013-14 CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE
Sporting Kansas City defeated Nicaraguan side Real Esteli FC in their opening CONCACAF Champions League match by a scoreline of 2-0 with goals from Ike Opara and Dom Dwyer earlier this month. Sporting KC will play CD Olimpia in their second match of CCL on Tuesday, August 27 before closing out the group stage with home matches against Real Estelí on September 17 and Olimpia on October 2.

CLAUDIO BIELER AT BOOST MOBILE IN TOPEKA TODAY
Sporting Kansas City Designated Player Claudio Bieler made a special appearance in Topeka, Kan. from 4-5:30 p.m. CT today at the Boost Mobile Store by Monterrey Bakery. Bieler -who has appearred in every MLS match for the club this season and contributed a team-high nine goals and three assists - signed autographs, took pictures and met with fans throughout the event.

KAMARA, SAAD, VERMES NAMED TO MLS TEAM OF THE WEEK
Peter Vermes' squad is back in first place in the Eastern Conference after defeating the New England Revolution 3-0. Kei Kamara tallied twice in the weekend win, while Soony Saad assisted on both of Kamara's goals. Following their strong performances, MLSSoccer.com named Kamara and Saad to their Team of the Week for Week 24.
Kamara's brace pushed his season total to seven goals scored in only 14 games. Saad became the youngest player in club history to record multiple assists in a game and increased his season total to four. In addition, Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes was named Coach of the Week after earning his 56th regular season win, good for 19th on the MLS all-time coaching wins chart.

SPORTING PARK TO HOST U.S. MNT IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIER
Sporting Park will host the U.S. Men's National Team on Oct. 11 in the team's final home qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The USMNT returns to Sporting Park to play Jamaica, live on the ESPN family of networks, WatchESPN and UniMas at 5:30 p.m. CT. Ticket information will be released at a later date.
Sporting Park, home to Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City, will host the U.S. Men's National Team for the third time since opening in June 2011. The state-of-the-art, $200+ million venue recently hosted the 2013 MLS All-Star Game on July 31.
