Nearly 300 Sporting Kansas City supporters will be in attendance at Toyota Park on Friday night when Sporting KC takes on the Chicago Fire and the vast majority of that group will have traveled more than 500 miles to be there. And that's the "shortest" road trip of the season for KC-based fans.
Now consider this. The English Premier League opened their 2013-14 season this past weekend and Inside World Football created the graphic below to showcase the distance travelled by away fans for every match in week 1.
The total -- 1,633 miles -- comes in at less than the distance covered in a one-way trip from Kansas City to San Jose, a trek made by Sporting Kansas City Season Ticket Members and KC residents alike last weekend.
