The SuperDraft is just one of the many mechanisms that MLS coaches can use to fill out their roster. The first two rounds of the draft took place last Thursday at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

Sporting KC did not have a pick in the first round, having traded the selection in December 2012 for midfielder Benny Feilhaber. Sporting KC used their second round selection on Adnan Gabeljic, a forward from St. Louis University.

The SuperDraft has taken many forms over the past few years. In 2012 and 2013, the SuperDraft was only two rounds, with the MLS Supplemental Draft taking the place of rounds three and four. 2010 was the last year that the SuperDraft had four full rounds.

In 2006, the then-Kansas City Wizards selected Eric Kronberg (pictured, above) with their fourth round pick in the SuperDraft. Kronberg is the longest tenured player on Kansas City's roster. Kronberg also started all four matches of the CCL group stage as Sporting KC advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League.
