Sporting Kansas City hosts the LA Galaxy on Sunday with their postseason hopes on the line. The pivotal Decision Day match will kick off at 6 p.m. CT and will be nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
Entering the regular season finale, Sporting Kansas City can finish as high as second or as low as seventh in the Western Conference standings pending other MLS results. However, Sporting KC is in control of their own destiny as the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions will clinch a spot in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup playoffs with a victory over the LA Galaxy on Sunday.
Sporting KC dropped their last match against the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday, the club’s second loss at Sporting Park in 2015. LA Galaxy are also coming off defeat in their last League outing, a 5-2 loss to the Portland Timbers.
Sporting KC is three points behind the LA Galaxy in the 2015 standings, but are unbeaten in six straight home games against LA (3-0-3) dating back to 2008, including a 2-0-1 record at Sporting Park.
Fans are encouraged to make plans for an extended trip to Sporting Park on Sunday. Beginning at 4 p.m. CT, the Sprint Plaza will open for the SKC Fall Festival featuring food/drink specials, music by the School of Rock and lawn games. Additionally the first 5,000 fans to arrive at Sporting Park will receive a pair of Sporting KC touchscreen gloves courtesy of Pepsi.
One hour before kickoff, Matt Besler and one Sporting KC supporter -- selected via a Snapchat contest on Saturday -- will paint the stadium's championship wall during a ceremony at 5:15 p.m. CT to commemorate the team’s U.S. Open Cup victory last month. Additionally, fans can enjoy a special Ivy Funds promotion at Sporting Style on Sunday with all authentic and replica secondary jerseys on sale for 50% off.
