Quotes: Sporting KC 1-2 FC Dallas — April 17, 2016

Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes

On falling 2-1 to FC Dallas...
I thought we were good tonight. I think we could have easily scored a couple goals. We had great looks one-v-one with the keeper. I think he gave up a couple soft goals to be honest with you. But that's the way it goes.

On Chris Seitz's performance...
It was good. I think it was more us missing than anything. We shot I think three shots all right at him. I mean, it was a pretty big moment there. We could have easily gone left or right, but we were shooting right at him. And the two goals we gave up were just bad decisions.

On making a last-minute push...
We just made a couple adjustments in regards to the way we were playing and our formation. I thought we had some really good chances, but sometimes it goes in and sometimes it doesn't. I thought at least the energy at the end was very good, and we went for it. It's a shame because I thought we had some very good balls coming in, and when you have that many, you have to stick one in. But they did a good job of defending. They fought for it.

On the two free kicks, one for Dallas and one for Sporting...
It was a good finish on their part. I thought we didn't do a good job on our wall. I'd have to see it again. For ours, I'd have to watch it again. He made a good save. I don't know if he could have gone on the other side of the wall or not, but they had a pretty solid group there.

Sporting KC Midfielder Benny Feilhaber
On the free kicks tonight deciding the match…

They took a good free kick. I would have to watch it over. It looked like a little bit like [Amadou] Dia was there and [Maxi] Urriti and him knocked each other over. I don’t know if it was much of a foul, but either way they took a good set piece and scored and [Chris] Seitz made a good save on ours. Other than that, there are 89 other minutes in the game. It was a frustrating result and we will look to improve.

On the goals conceded and the chances created…

I think the first goal was a bit unlucky. It was not a very well-played ball diagonally and it just got through, hit a couple of people and got through. It’s unfortunate for us, but I think we can still do better. In terms of the opportunities we got, we definitely need to finish some of them. I’m sure Dom [Dwyer] will tell you that he will finish that nine out of 10 when he gets one on one with the goalkeeper. He played an excellent ball to Jimmy [Medranda] and Jimmy had a chance as well. There were some other chances where we had shots from the top of the box or set pieces. As much as we could have scored more goals today, I think we could still generate more chances.
