SKC Academy invited to participate in CONCACAF Under-13 Champions league.

When Sporting Kansas City kicks off the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League this fall, they will be the second team from the organization to play in a continental tournament in 2016. On Wednesday, CONCACAF announced that the Sporting KC Academy U-13s were drawn into Group C of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Under-13 Champions League.


The annual tournament features some of the top U-13 programs from across North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Sporting Kansas City’s group includes Pungarabato Guerrero (Mexico), Chorrillo FC (PAN) and CD Santa Ana (SLV).


“We are honored to represent the United States at this prestigious tournament,” said Jon Parry, Sporting KC Academy Director of Coaching. “Our Academy has made huge strides over the past few years and an invitation to this tournament shows that what we are doing is being recognized by soccer leaders across the country.”


The tournament will be held in Mexico City from July 23-30 with the exact schedule to be announced at a later date.
