Sporting Kansas City (5-8-2, 17 points) hits the road again this Thursday as the team goes head-to-head with LA Galaxy (5-2-5, 20 points) for the second time in 2016. The match kicks off at StubHub Center in Carson, California at 9:30 p.m. CT with three hours of live television coverage beginning at 9 p.m. on 38 The Spot and SKCTV. Listeners can also follow the action live on 99.3 FM and 1340 AM. No Other Pub will once again host a watch party for the game, with a buy-one-get-one drink special available to fans every time Sporting KC scores.

Sporting KC currently sits at seventh place in the Western Conference, winning once in their last 10 matches. Meanwhile, LA Galaxy leads the league in scoring with 2.25 goal per game despite ranking only 16th in shots per game. Manager Peter Vermes’ men, on the other hand, have created plenty of opportunities during their 2016 campaign with 214 shot attempts, but rank 18th with 0.93 goals per match.

Sporting KC enters Thursday match coming off a heartbreaking home loss against D.C. United last Friday. The home side was able to hold their fellow MLS charter club to a draw until the 86th minute, when substitute Alhaji Kamara scored D.C.’s game-winning goal only 33 seconds into his MLS debut. The match marked Sporting KC’s fourth home loss this season.

Despite LA’s impressive scoring record this season, the team ranks only two places above Sporting KC at fifth place in the Western Conference. Bruce Arena’s men are without a win in their past three matches, last falling 3-2 to Montreal Impact on Saturday. The five-time MLS Cup winners are tied with San Jose Earthquakes for the most draws in the Western Conference with five. In fact, the last time Sporting KC and LA Galaxy met this season — almost exactly one month ago on May 1 — the game ended in this fashion, with 90 minutes of fierce play between the sides ending in a 1-1 draw.

The matchup between LA and Kansas City has always been fierce, and the Galaxy own a 24-20-12 edge in the all-time regular season series, including a 16-5-6 mark in LA. Sporting KC looks to snap a winless streak in LA dating back to August 2010, when Sporting KC last claimed a victory on LA’s home soil. The Kansas City side has just one win in its last 10 visits to StubHub Center dating back to 2004, including three straight losses and a 1-6-3 record.
