At the 2016 Olympics, the U.S. will meet New Zealand (Aug. 3), France (Aug. 6) and Colombia (on Aug. 9) in Group G play as 12 women's teams compete for gold. Seeking a fourth straight gold medal in the quadrennial competition, the U.S. player pool features FC Kansas City's Heather O'Reilly and Becky Sauerbrunn as well as veteran stars Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Hope Solo and reigning FIFA Women's Player of the Year Carli Lloyd.

The U.S. WNT will return to Children's Mercy Park for the third time since the state-of-the-art venue opened in 2011. The stadium previously welcomed the WNT in 2011 for a 1-1 friendly draw against Canada and in 2014 for a 1-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the CONCACAF Women's Championship. The U.S. Women's and Men's National Teams are 9-0-4 in 13 combined visits to Kansas City, including a 5-0-2 mark at world-class Children's Mercy Park.
