Recap: Santos Laguna and C.F. Pachuca play to draw at Children's Mercy Park

Santos Laguna C.F. Pachuca — June 21, 2016 — Liga MX

After 90 minutes of heated play between the two sides, Liga MX teams Santos Laguna and C.F. Pachuca drew 1-1 Tuesday night in a preseason friendly match at Children's Mercy Park in front of 6,512 fans. The game marked the first time the clubs met since the 2016 Liga MX playoffs, when Pachuca knocked Santos out of play before moving on to win the league.

Despite playing the game on their first day of preseason training, Pachuca first claimed the lead with a goal from 16-year-old Erick Sanchez in the 33rd minute.

But Santos Laguna didn't take long to pull themselves back into the game, finding net just minutes before the end of the first half. Kristian Alvarez managed to equalize the score with no assist, converting on a header off a goal kick rebound.

The next 45 minutes, intense pressure from both sides wouldn't budge the scoreboard in favor of either side, and after 90 minutes of play, the teams ended their first preseason match of 2016 with a 1-1 draw.
