Dom Dwyer's sensational strike at Montreal nominated for Goal of the Week

Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer 59th minute strike at Montreal has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week. After receiving a pass from Benny Feilhaber, Dwyer took a few touches before sending a perfectly placed shot off the near post and into the back of the net. In five matches against Montreal, Dwyer has scored nine times and has moved into second place in club history with 44 regular season goals.


The quarterfinal round of voting is now open through Tuesday night as Dwyer is paired against Houston's Andrew Wenger. Other nominees for Goal of the Week are Lamar Neagle, Jordan Hamilton, Kekutah Manneh, Giovani dos Santos, Lucas Ontivero, and Fabian Castillo.


UPDATE: Dwyer has advanced to the semifinal round and is matched up against D.C. United's Lamar Neagle. Voting is open through Wednesday evening.
