SPR City Council

The City Council of Kansas City, Missouri today proclaimed this Saturday, July 30 as Swope Park Rangers Appreciation Day. Fifth District Councilwoman Alissia Canady will be an honorary Host of the Match during Saturday’s showdown between the Swope Park Rangers and San Antonio FC at Swope Soccer Village.

“Our players, coaches and staff take immense amount of pride in having the privilege to represent Kansas City and the United Soccer League, so today was a special opportunity to meet Councilwoman Alissia Canady and the City Council Members to receive this recognition,” Rangers general manager Kurt Austin said. “We are grateful for the support of local leaders in our inaugural season and we look forward to celebrating Swope Park Rangers Appreciation Day on Saturday at Swope Soccer Village.”

The first American professional sports team to feature a municipal park, the Swope Park Rangers are in the midst of their inaugural season, having gone 7-8-4 (25 pts.) so far in 2016 while sitting in the eighth and final playoff position in the USL Western Conference.

On Saturday, the Rangers will host Swope Park Appreciation Night at Swope Soccer Village when the side takes on San Antonio FC – who are one point below the Rangers in the standings. Several local attractions will be out at the game, including Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course, Starlight Theater and Heart of America Golf Course.
