Sporting KC's home game vs. LA Galaxy on Sept. 18 moved to 1 p.m. CT on FOX

Graham Zusi - Sporting KC vs LA Galaxy - May 1, 2016

Sporting Kansas City's home game against the LA Galaxy on Sept. 18 will kick off at 1 p.m. CT on FOX, Major League Soccer and FOX Sports announced Thursday.

The MLS regular season match at Children's Mercy Park was originally scheduled for noon CT on ESPN.

Sporting KC vs. LA Galaxy will be followed by Toronto FC vs. New York Red Bulls at 4 p.m. CT, also on FOX. The two matches will air live adjacent to regional National Football League broadcasts as part of a joint MLS and NFL lineup on Sunday, Sept. 18. The lineup of simultaneous MLS and NFL games marks the first time in the league’s 21 seasons that a network partner has televised games from the two leagues on the same network at the same time. Kickoff times for the two matches have been updated to align with the FOX broadcast network lineup.

Sporting Kansas City is on a six-game home winning streak in the regular season, the second longest run in club history. Manager Peter Vermes' men have climbed to fifth place in the Western Conference, six points clear in the playoff race and just a point behind fourth-place LA. The clubs battled to a pair of draws in their first two regular season meetings, a 1-1 result on May 1 at Children's Mercy Park and a 0-0 stalemate on June 2 at StubHub Center.

The all-important showdown on Sept. 18 will be Sporting KC's eighth appearance on FOX or FS1 this year. The club is 5-1-1 in the previous seven matches, including a 4-0-1 record at Children's Mercy Park. The Galaxy, who haven't won in Kansas City since 2007, boast a star-studded roster that includes Giovani dos Santos, Robbie Keane, Gyasi Zardes, Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole. A limited number of tickets for the game are still available via Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.
