Sydney and Dom welcome son Cassius Cruz Dwyer into the world

Dom and Sydney give birth to son Cassius Cruz Dwyer

Another Sporting Kansas City player has become a father.

Forward Dom Dwyer and his wife Sydney Leroux Dwyer shared exciting news Saturday night on social media, welcoming their new-born son Cassius Cruz into the world. Sydney â€” herself a forward on the U.S. Women's National Team â€” gave birth to a healthy Cassius the day after Dom scored his 58th career goal for Sporting Kansas City in Friday's 3-3 draw against the Houston Dynamo at Children's Mercy Park.

Dwyer celebrated his 81st-minute strike rather appropriately, putting the ball beneath his jersey while kissing his ring finger to salute his wife Sydney and the imminent birth of his son.

American soccer's golden couple became parents just eight days after Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler and his wife Amanda had their first child, a healthy daughter named Parker Rhea. Like Dwyer, Besler marked the occasion with a goal â€” opening his international scoring account as the U.S. Men's National Team beat St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Congratulations to the Dwyer Leroux family on the exciting news! SKC Nation welcomes Cassius in open arms, and who knows â€” one of these days, maybe he'll follow in his dad's footsteps as a Sporting KC great. The gene pool certainly works in his favor.
