LOAN UPDATE: Daniel Salloi leads Gyirmot to first win with game-winning goal

Sporting Kansas City forward Daniel Salloi scored the game-winning goal on Saturday for Gyirmot SE in the Hungarian First Division. It was the second appearance of the season for Salloi who joined Gyirmot on loan in July.

Salloi started Gyirmot’s July 24 0-0 draw against MTK, but suffered a back injury that kept him out of the lineup for the following seven matches. Saturday’s game-winner came in the 74th minute of the match and snapped a nine-game winless streak for Gyirmot in all competitions. It was also the first win of the season for the newly promoted club.

Gyirmot is currently in 11th place in Nemzeti Bajnoksag I. They will travel to Zalakomar for a midweek Magyar Kupa match before returning to League play on Saturday with a road match against Paksi SE.

Salloi is one of two Sporting KC players currently on loan to European clubs with fellow homegrown signing Erik Palmer-Brown on a season-long loan to Portuguese side FC Porto. After anchoring the Porto II defense to a league title last season, Palmer-Brown has yet to feature for the club this year. Palmer-Brown missed the first month of the year after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, an injury he also suffered in 2014. The Lee’s Summit native spent the past two weeks rehabbing his foot injury in Kansas City, but has now returned to Portugal to continue his rehab process with Porto.
