The Swope Park Rangers will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in the Western Conference Final this Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT
The Rangers advanced to the Final in the most improbable of circumstances, topping Orange County Blues FC 2-1 after extra time while playing with nine men after defenders Ever Alvarado and Tommy Meyer were sent off. Mark Anthony Gonzalez had given SPR a first-half lead before Max Rauhofer equalized moments after Alvarado's red card. Meyer was dismissed in the 88th minute before Dane Kelly found the winner with a superb individual effort on the stroke of halftime in extra time.
Whitecaps FC 2 made it to the Conference Final after upsetting Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2-1 in the Quarterfinals and earning a late 3-2 victory over OKC Energy FC in their Semifinal on Saturday.
