USL hands down suspensions to SPR's Ever Alvarado and Tommy Meyer

Meyer vs. OC

The United Soccer League has suspended Swope Park Rangers defenders Ever Alvarado and Tommy Meyer after the two players were shown straight red cards in Sunday's Western Conference Semifinal victory over Orange County Blues FC.

Alvarado, who is on loan from Sporting KC, was shown a straight red card after a challenge from behind on Orange County's A.J. Gray in the 69th minute. The 24-year-old has been issued a one-game suspension and will miss Saturday's Western Conference Final against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.

Meyer, 26, has been issued two separate three-game suspensions for a total of six games. The St. Louis, Mo. native received a three-game suspension for his foul on Akwafei Ajeakwa in the 88th minute, and a further three games for making contact with an assistant referee.

The Rangers have now been shown a total of four red cards in 2016. Oumar Ballo was sent off against Saint Louis FC on May 7 and Ayrton was ejected against Arizona United SC on July 9.
