Six-year MLS veteran Juan Guzman will lead the teams out onto Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village this Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff with the winner advancing to the 2016 USL Cup Final. Tickets start at $12 and are available to purchase online at Ticketmaster.com.

Guzman, a 29-year-old California native, has been in the middle of 77 MLS matches in his career with 24 red cards shown and 17 penalty kicks awarded. Sporting Kansas City is 4-4-0 in the club's eight all-time matches officiated by Guzman, including his MLS debut in April 2011.

Of the four red cards in those matches, all were issued to Sporting KC players and two came on Aug. 27, 2016 in the team's 2-0 loss at the Philadelphia Union. Jimmy Medranda and Roger Espinoza were ejected in the second half, though Espinoza's suspension was later lifted by the MLS Disciplinary Committee upon appeal.

In 2013, Guzman earned the opportunity to officiate the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final between D.C. United and Real Salt Lake. More recently, Guzman was a member of the 2016 MLS All-Star Game referee crew as the fourth official between the MLS All-Stars and Arsenal FC benches.

In addition to U.S. Open Cup and Major League Soccer matches, Guzman has also worked in numerous other club competitions including CONCACAF Champions League and the North American Soccer League. He last officiated in the USL in an August 2014 match between Wilmington Hammerheads FC and Orange County Blues FC that resulted in four players receiving suspensions following a mass altercation.
