Northwest Missouri State Football

The Northwest Missouri State University football team will continue their quest for a second straight national championship on Saturday when they host Ferris State at 2:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville, Missouri. The winner will advance to the national title game at Children’s Mercy Park on December 17. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.

The Bearcats enter Saturday’s match with a school-record 28-game winning streak after having beaten Harding 35-0 in the quarterfinals. Head coach Adam Dorrel’s squad put in a dominant performance last weekend, holding the visiting Bisons to just 119 total yards, all on the ground.

While Northwest Missouri State prepares for their 11th semifinal match, their opponent is into the final four for only the second time. Ferris State knocked off No. 1 seed Grand Valley State 47-32 last weekend for the program’s first road playoff win.

Saturday’s other semifinal match features No. 3 seed Shepherd vs. No. 1 seed North Alabama. Shepherd knocked off California (Pa.) 41-30 in the quarterfinal round, while North Alabama shut out North Greenville 38-0 last weekend.

Both of the semifinal matches will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Shepherd hosting North Alabama at 11 a.m. CT.
