Sporting Kansas City commentator Nate Bukaty appeared Friday on Between the Lines with Kevin Kietzman on Sports Radio 810 WHB, reporting from preseason training at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson. In his latest report from camp, Bukaty caught up with Sporting KC assistant coach Kerry Zavagnin, who is encouraged by what he has seen over the last few weeks in Arizona.
“We’ve added more speed and more youth, at the same time blending that with a core group of guys who have been here and had success. That creates an interesting environment,” Zavagnin said. “Now that we’re in the second phase of preseason, the group has created a great environment in terms of how we want to play the game, and more importantly our work ethic has been tremendous. There is a lot of excitement and a lot of hunger in the group.”
Zavagnin also discussed his recent pursuit of the U.S. Soccer Pro Course, the highest and most prestigious coaching license in North America. The ninth-year assistant shared fascinating insight on the direction U.S. Soccer is headed in developing better players and coaches.
