Shades of Blue: Plant-based eating and rock climbing with John Pulskamp

In the first two weeks of the 2021 MLS regular season, 20-year-old Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper John Pulskamp has become the youngest keeper in league history to win a road match and the youngest to compete in an MLS fixture at Children's Mercy Park.

That's one heck of a start to your MLS career.

But there's plenty more to Pulskamp than just his on-field exploits. In a new and enlightening episode of Shades of Blue, a podcast hosted by Thad Bell, Cody Bradley and Robert Rusert, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Pulskamp opens up about his childhood in California, his family's athletic background, his rock climbing passion and a plant-based diet that has helped him reach peak condition at the MLS level.

Pulskamp and Sporting (1-0-1, 4 points) will look to preserve their unbeaten record on Saturday when they venture west to face long-standing rivals Real Salt Lake (1-0-0, 3 points) in a 1 p.m. CT showdown at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

Saturday's Western Conference clash will be shown live on Bally Sports Kansas City Plus, Bally Sports Midwest Plus, the Bally Sports app and while also airing locally on ESPN 94.5 FM and La Grande 1340 AM.
