Recap: Wizards lose 0-1 at FC Dallas

Kamara Hartman at FCD 10

Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman made critical second half saves against his former club and David Ferreira's penalty kick held up as FC Dallas defeated the Kansas City Wizards 1-0 on Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park.

Ferreira drained a penalty kick for the second straight week as FCD now has three straight wins in league play.

Last week, teammate Marvin Chavez drew the PK for FCD. Tonight, Ferreira did his own dirty work, forcing the Wizards' Roger Espinoza to take him down about six yards from goal in the 59th minute. The Colombian international then drilled the penalty shot into the right side of the net for the evening’s only goal.

The home side dominated play for much of the night and in the first half had seven shots compared to just two by the Wizards.

Kansas City was more inspired in the second half and had several quality chances to show for its efforts. In the 68th and 70th minute, Jack Jewsbury was denied by Hartman, who was his former teammate last year.

Hartman also had a pair of saves on Wizards forward Graham Zusi, who came on for Stephane Auvray in the 71st minute. Zusi was first denied by the veteran keeper in the 72nd minute and the following minute, Hartman also turned one back off a long-range free kick.

Kansas City will host Chivas USA next Saturday while FCD returns to the field in search of a fourth straight win at Seattle next Sunday.
