Heineman Says Bravo Signed for 2011

Omar Bravo's famous goal-scoring celebration.

Kansas City Wizards President Robb Heineman said late Thursday night on Twitter that the club has signed star Mexican striker Omar Bravo. Heineman's tweet read:

"Bravo deal finally done. Starts with us in preseason."

Bravo, 30, is a long-time member of storied Mexican team Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas). Bravo is Chivas' 2nd all-time leading scorer with 106 goals in League play.

Bravo has been an integral part of the Chivas team that has qualified for the finals of the famed Copa Libertadores South American club tournament. Chivas dropped the first leg of the finals series 2-1 to Internacional of Brazil. Bravo, who has scored four goals during the tournament, started and played 90 minutes in the match. The return leg in Brazil is next Wednesday night on Fox Sports en Español. Chivas is only the second Mexican team to ever make the finals of the tournament after Cruz Azul accomplished the feat in 2001.
