Chhetri Scores 2 More for India

Sunil Chhetri, Kansas City Wizards

Kansas City Wizards striker Sunil Chhetri has scored two more goals for his country during a 3-2 friendly victory of Portuguese side Sertanense FC. Chhetri is with the India national team as they prepare for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. India has been drawn into Group C with Australia, Korea Republic and Bahrain. The tournament begins for India January 10 versus Australia in Doha, Qatar.


Chhetri opened the scoring in the 14th minute, latching onto a pass from Mohammed Rafi and slotting home for an early 1-0 lead. Chhetri scored his second in the 22nd minute, heading home an indirect free kick taken by India goalkeeper Subrata Paul. Sertanense fought back into the game to tie the game 202, but N.P. Pradeep sealed victory for India in the 78th minute.
