Serious star power will accompany the USA Bid Committee to Zürich, Switzerland.
Former President Bill Clinton, honorary chairman of the effort to bring the 2022 World Cup to the United States, will speak during the group's 30-minute presentation to the FIFA Executive Committee on Dec. 1.
"I’m pleased to stand on behalf of our nation for something as important and meaningful to the American people and citizens throughout the world as the FIFA World Cup," President Clinton said in a release. "I am committed to this effort because I have seen firsthand the powerful unifying force of the FIFA World Cup, bringing together people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs. The USA Bid Committee shares that commitment, and we look forward to expressing that commitment to the FIFA Executive Committee when we meet next month."
The US committee, along with the four other nations bidding to host the '22 World Cup, will present on Dec. 1. Voting will occur the next day, with the announcement coming at 10 a.m. ET. All proceedings will be streamed live worldwide.
