Major League Soccer is re-launching its Reserve League in 2011 with Sporting Kansas City in the Central Division and set to play each divisional rival twice, once at home and once on the road, in the 10-game season. Sporting Kansas City is joined in the Central Division by the Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake, Chicago Fire, Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas.
After Major League Soccer expanded the maximum roster size from 24 in 2010 to 30 players in 2011, the MLS Reserve League will provide developmental opportunities for players outside of MLS regular season matches. The League returns after having been held from 2005-2008 and Sporting Kansas City will host Reserve League home matches at state-of-the-art LIVESTRONG Sporting Park following it’s opening on June 9th.
Clubs may also schedule additional games for their reserve squads against non-MLS opponents. Sporting Kansas City’s current MLS Reserve League schedule is below (subject to change, all times Central).
