2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

Sporting Kansas City will host a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third round match at 7:30 p.m. CT on June 28th at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park against the Chicago Fire PDL.

Tickets are $10 for all 2011 Sporting Kansas City season ticket members and $15 for the general public, and can be purchased on TicketMaster.com.

Sporting Kansas City advanced to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third round with a 5-0 victory over the New England Revolution in the final round of qualifying last month at the Blue Valley District Activities Complex, and will be one of eight MLS clubs amongst the final 16 teams in the tournament.

Sporting Kansas City will host the Chicago Fire PDL, who advanced past the Madison 56ers 2-0 on Wednesday in the U.S. Open Cup second round at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin. The Chicago Fire PDL, one of just three first round teams to win on the road with a late 1-0 victory at the Des Moines Menace, are one of two remaining amateur teams in the competition. The club is 5-2-1 and in second place in the Great Lakes Division of the Premier Development League’s Central Conference.

Sporting Kansas City is 4-5-1 all-time in the U.S. Open Cup round of 16, and 8-3-3 against non-MLS competition. Recently opened LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will host its first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup fixture, and Sporting Kansas City is 7-4-1 all-time at home in the U.S. Open Cup.
