SPORTING KANSAS CITY TOPS FC TUSCON 5-1
Sporting Kansas City concluded their pre-season stay in Arizona with a 5-1 victory over FC Tucson on Tuesday at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz.


Second-half substitute Dom Dwyer led the way for Sporting Kansas City with three goals in a 20-minute span, following first half tallies from Kei Kamara and Roger Espinoza.


Sporting KC returns to Kansas City on Tuesday for a four-day stay before departing for Orlando to compete in the 2012 Disney Pro Soccer Classic. Travel packages are available for the tournament through Anthony Travel.


Fans can follow the team at the tournament as every group stage match will be streamed live on MLSSoccer.com and ESPN3.com broadcasting the consolation and championship match

SPORTING KANSAS CITY TO HOST OPEN TRYOUTS
Sporting Kansas City will hold open tryouts for prospective players on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 at the team’s Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park. The tryouts are open to players who are 18 years of age and older, and are among the first 300 registrants.


This year’s event marks the fifth consecutive year the club has held an organized open tryout. The previous occasions have drawn scores of players from more than a dozen different countries.


Interested individuals can register for the 2012 open tryouts at SportingKC.com. Players must pay the tryout fee, ranging from $200-$208 depending on payment method, for the opportunity to participate and also must be able to provide their own transportation, lodging and food for the weekend.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY LAUNCHES “LIVE FOR IT” CAMPAIGN
Sporting Kansas City unveiled the club’s 2012 marketing campaign on Monday, introducing the “Live for It” slogan to showcase the unparalleled experience of attending matches at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park and to represent the incredible devotion of the club’s passionate supporters.


The campaign will include a wide array of traditional and non-traditional marketing elements, including a cross-platform approach that will spread the message through television, radio, outdoor, print and online advertising placements.


Over the airwaves, the “Live for It” campaign began last week on Sports Radio 810 WHB and 610 Sports Radio. The radio promotions can also be heard during theseason on a lineup of local FM stations that currently includes 96.5 the Buzz, Mix 93.3 and Hot 103 Jamz. 


Billboards featuring C.J. Sapong and Graham Zusi will be unveiled on Monday, February 20. Two additional billboards will be posted during the season featuring Matt Besler and Jimmy Nielsen.


The first flight of billboards will be on display at the following locations:


  • C.J. Sapong: I-435 and 350 Highway (February 20)
  • C.J. Sapong: I-70 and Indiana (February 27)
  • Graham Zusi: I-35 and Cambridge Circle (February 20)

SINGLE-GAME TICKETS AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC FRIDAY
Single-game tickets for Sporting Kansas City’s first eight home matches of the 2012 MLS season at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, Feb. 17.


Individual match tickets for each of the opening eight home games on the Sporting KC schedule -- beginning with the highly anticipated home opener on Saturday, March 17 and continuing through the visit from rivals Chicago Fire on Friday, June 29 -- will be available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com or at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park Box Offices (open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT).

VERMES, ZAVAGNIN ON NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME BALLOT
U.S. Soccer announced the National Soccer Hall of Fame Class of 2012 ballot, with Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes and Assistant Coach Kerry Zavagnin among the 31 players up for election on the Player ballot. Also appearing are former Kansas Cityplayers Jose Burciaga,Jr., Mike Burns, Chris Henderson, Roy Lassiter and Tony Meola.  


Voting will conclude on Friday and the results will be announced shortly after. The National Soccer Hall of Fame voting pool includes all Hall of Famers, select soccer administrators and designated media members. Each voter can list up to 10 candidates per ballot. Any player appearing on at least 66.7 percent of ballots will earn election.

ESPN TO TELEVISE SPORTING’S MATCH VERSUS LA GALAXY AT LSP
Sporting Kansas City’s match on Saturday, April 7 against the LA Galaxy will now kick off at 3:00 p.m. CT on ESPN at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The marquee match, featuring the top teams in the Eastern and Western Conference from last season, was moved onehour earlier from the previously scheduled 4 p.m. CT start time to accommodate the programming move from ESPN2 to ESPN, the network’s flagship channel.


Sporting Kansas City’s home schedule features seven nationally televised matches in 2012, highlighted by the visit from the defending MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy on April 7. The only regular season meeting between the LA Galaxy and Sporting Kansas City in 2012, the April 7encounter will also be broadcast live on ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPN Mobile TV, ESPN3 and WatchESPN and is one of 10 currently scheduled MLS regular season matches to be shown on ESPN (along with 10 additional regular season matches on ESPN2, including Sporting Kansas City’s home match against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, August 26).

SERIES TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR OLYMPIC QUALIFYING AT LIVESTRONG SPORTING PARK
Series tickets for the elimination-round matches of the 2012 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park are now available to purchase by the general public.


A series ticket consists of a ticket to all three matches at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, beginning with the decisive semifinal matches on Saturday, March 31 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT and culminating with the championship match on Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m. CT. Series tickets begin at $56 for all three matches (seating and pricing chart on right) and can be ordered online at ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, at local Ticketmaster ticket centers and at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park box offices.


Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date, pending availability.

2012 HOME OPENER SET FOR MARCH 17
Sporting Kansas City will play their first home match of 2012 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday, March 17 against the New England Revolution. The match comes one week after Sporting Kansas City opens the 2012 season on the road at D.C. United on Saturday, March 10.
