UPDATE: Moreno started and played 66 minutes on Tuesday, while Piatczyc played 45 minutes in the second half of Sporting Kansas City's 2-0 loss at Houston. Congrats to both players!

Sporting KC Academy teammates Joey Piatczyc (shown above) and Eduardo Moreno both travelled to Houston today with the Sporting Kansas City senior squad for their Reserve League match at 10 a.m. CT tomorrow against the Dynamo. Piatczyc, one of four players on the U18's to be born in 1996, is a Lee's Summit resident and starred at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase last December, scoring two goals and being chosen to the 1996 Select match. TopDrawerSoccer.com rates him the #1 player in the Class of 2014 for the Heartland region.

Moreno scored a team-leading 14 goals for the Sporting KC U18's in the 2011/12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season and has picked up right where he left off, scoring on Saturday in the team's 3-2 pre-season win over SLSG Metro. The Liberal, Kan. native has continued to rise through the ranks since being invited to the U.S. Soccer U-17 Mini Camp in December 2010 and already played in one Reserve League match this season, getting 58 minutes against the Colorado Rapids in June.

Piatczyc also has one Reserve League appearance, playing seven minutes last season in a 1-0 win over the Rapids on August 8, 2011. Follow @SportingKC on Twitter for updates from Tuesday's match.
