SPORTING KC VISITS COLUMBUS CREW ON SUNDAY
Sporting Kansas City will take on the Columbus Crew at 3:00 p.m. CT on Sunday at Columbus Crew Stadium. The match will air live on KSMO-TV and La Gran D 1340 AM.
With three games remaining in the regular season, Sporting Kansas City are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference and three points back of the San Jose Earthquakes in the team's quest for the Supporters' Shield. Columbus sits in sixth place in the East, one point back of the Houston Dynamo for the conference's final spot in the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Sporting KC and Columbus have split the two previous meetings this season, each winning on the road in the series.
PLAYOFF TICKETS ON SALE FOR SPORTING KC SEASON TICKET MEMBERS

Current Sporting Kansas City Season Ticket Members may now secure their current seats at the Season Ticket Member discounted price for the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs by purchasing the playoff package available through the Sporting Kansas City Account Manager until Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. CT.


Season Ticket Members will also have access to an exclusive pre-sale from Thursday, Oct. 11th at 10 a.m. CT to Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. CT to purchase additional playoff packages for any available seating category at the Season Ticket Member discounted price, subject to availability. This option is only available to Season Ticket Members through their Sporting Kansas City Account Manager.


Finally, Season Ticket Members will have access to a single-game playoff pre-sale on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. CT until Friday, Oct. 19th at 10 a.m. CT. Single-game tickets can be purchased then at the Season Ticket Member discounted price, subject to availability.
Playoff tickets for the general public will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 19th.
KAMARA, ESPINOZA SELECTED TO REPRESENT NATIONAL TEAMS
Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara and midfielder Roger Espinoza will each join their respective National Teams for international competition during the upcoming FIFA match dates from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16. Neither player will miss any action with Sporting Kansas City, departing after Sporting Kansas City's game on Sunday at Columbus and returning prior to the team's match at New York on Oct. 20.
Kamara, who leads Sporting Kansas City with a single-season career high 11 goals this year, was named to the Sierra Leone roster for the decisive match in 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying at Tunisia on Oct. 13 at Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet in Monastir, Tunisia. The teams drew 2-2 in the opening leg of the two game, aggregate goal series last month with Kamara playing the full 90 minutes. The winner will advance to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted by South Africa in January.
Espinoza was selected to the Honduran National Team for the country's final two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the semifinal round of CONCACAF qualifying. Honduras, currently tied with Canada for second place in Group C, will face group leaders Panama on October 12 at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City and Canada on October 16 at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula. The top two teams in the group will advance to the fourth and final round of qualifying next year.
STATE LINE SOCCER SHOW ON THURSDAY ON 610 SPORTS RADIO

LSP SOLD OUT FOR USMNT WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

A sellout crowd will witness the decisive U.S. Men’s National Team’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Guatemala on Oct. 16 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The match will mark the first time the stadium has hosted a World Cup Qualifier.

The USA faces Guatemala on the final matchday of the Semifinal Round in 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. U.S. Soccer credentials are required for this match, and Sporting KC or MLS All-Stadium media credentials will not be valid. The deadline to apply for credentials to this match is Oct. 3, 2012 (additional information below).

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, WatchESPN and the Univision family. Fans can also follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and on Twitter at @ussoccer.


CREDENTIAL APPLICATIONS FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIER AT LSP DUE TODAY
Credential applications for the FIFA World Cup Qualifier between the United States and Guatemala on Oct. 16 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park must be submitted online to U.S. Soccer today.

U.S. Soccer credentials are required for this match, and Sporting KC or Major League Soccer credentials will not be valid. Media can access the application online at ussoccer.com.

USMNT TO HOST PUBLIC TRAINING AT LSP ON OCT. 14

As part of the continuing effort to connect with the fans, the U.S. Men’s National Team will host a public training session on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. CT at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Admission and parking for the event are free. Fans who pre-register on ussoccer.com will be entered to have a chance to meet U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann at the stadium prior to the training session.

At the session, fans will get a first-hand look at how the National Team prepares for an important match and hear exclusive interviews with Klinsmann and select players. With tickets sold out for the decisive USA-Guatemala match two days later, the event gives more supporters a chance to see the team in action. U.S. Soccer Supporters Club members will have field-level access during the training session. If you are not yet a member, U.S. Soccer SC memberships are available to purchase.
SPORTING KC AND LEGENDS OUTLETS TO HOST SOCCERFEST
Sporting Kansas City and the Legends Outlets will co-host a special fan-friendly SoccerFest from 12-2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Legends Outlets in Village West (1843 Village West Pkwy, Kansas City, Kan.). Immediately following the United States Men's National Team's public training at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, fans can cross the street for a Soccerfest that will feature autograph and photo opportunities with Sporting KC players, as well as children's soccer activities including inflatables and an appearance by the Sporting KC mascot.

ZUSI AND BESLER TO PLAY IN ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS TOURNAMENT FRIDAY

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi and defender Matt Besler will play in the Fourth Annual Rock, Paper, Scissors Throwdown Tournament at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday at the Missouri Bank in the Crossroads District (125 Southwest Boulevard). An expected 64 businesses will participate with a grand prize on the line during the monthly First Friday's festivities.The event is open to the public.


SPORTING KC DEFEATS CHICAGO FIRE 2-0, CLINCHES PLAYOFF SPOT
Sporting Kansas City defeated the Chicago Fire 2-0 in front of a record-breaking crowd of more than 21,000 fans at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Friday. The victory secured a playoff spot for Sporting Kansas City, the first team to clinch a postseason berth in the Eastern Conference, and put Sporting Kansas City just three points behind San Jose in the quest for the Supporters’ Shield.
Graham Zusi claimed both goals, increasing his tally to five this season, with the first coming in the 11th minute off of a cross from Kei Kamara and the second arriving in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time off of a low, right-footed effort past Sean Johnson.
It was a record-breaking night for Sporting Kansas City. Jimmy Nielsen recorded his League-leading 14th shutout of the season and Sporting Kansas City extended the club’s unbeaten streak to nine games, the longest run of any MLS team this season.

SPORTING KC, BRADEN'S HOPE TEAM UP FOR YEAR OF HOPE CALENDAR

Sporting Kansas City teamed up with Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer and DeCloud Studios for a 2013 calendar for the Kansas City-based organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for treatments of childhood cancer. The 2013 Year of Hope calendar features 12 local childhood cancer heroes and Sporting Kansas City players: Matt Besler, Teal Bunbury, Bobby Convey, Michael Harrington, Kei Kamara, Chance Myers, Jimmy Nielsen, Soony Saad, C.J. Sapong, Seth Sinovic, Konrad Warzycha and Graham Zusi.

Fans may purchase calendars for $15 at www.BradensHope.org or at Harvest Moon Natural Foods in Olathe, Kan. All money raised from the sales of the 2013 Year of Hope calendar will go directly to Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer to raise awareness and fund research grants given to hospitals and research institutions dedicated to find treatments and cures for childhood cancers exclusively.


SPORTING KC ACADEMY OFF TO HOT START IN USSDA
The Sporting Kansas City Academy is 6-0-0 in the 2012-2013 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, making Sporting KC the only USSDA club in the nation to have a perfect record after six games. The under-16 and under-18 Academy teams are in first place in the Central Conference's Frontier Division with three wins through their first three matches.
Coached by Jon Parry, the under-16's and under-18's will next face Andromeda FC on Saturday, October 6th at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park.

The under-12 and under-14 Academy teams will continue their National Premier Leagues seasons on Saturday, October 6th against Springfield SC and Sunday, October 7th against TSC Hurricane. All four games will be played at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park.
